Product Description

Brief description

Xylene is an organic compound with the molecular formula C8H10, a colorless and transparent liquid, which is the product of the substitution of two hydrogens by methyl groups on the benzene ring, and there are three isomers: o-, m- and p-. In industry, xylene refers to the mixture of the above isomers.

Uses

It is widely used as solvent in paint, resin, dye, ink and other industries; used as synthetic monomer or solvent in medicine, explosives, pesticide and other industries; also used as high octane gasoline component, which is an important raw material for organic chemical industry. It can also be used to remove asphalt from bodywork. Hospital pathology department is mainly used for transparent and dewaxing of tissues and sections. Industrial o-xylene as raw material, first wash with industrial concentrated sulfuric acid until the acid layer is colorless, then wash with 10% sodium hydroxide solution and water in turn until qualified, separate out the aqueous layer and dry with anhydrous calcium chloride, then distill, and after the distillate is clear, collect the middle fraction, which is the pure product.
